Roku has many streaming devices that include both 4k HD and non-HD content. Now all-new lineup of streaming media devices for the coming year has been unveiled by Roku including a new Roku streaming stick which is its 4k capable version along with the updated models of Roku Express and Roku Ultra. The new streaming stick which is better known as Roku streaming stick+ is the most notable entry in the new lineup of media streaming devices. This is actually the upgraded version of Roku streaming stick which supports ultra high definition (UHD or 4k) and high dynamic range (HDR) video. All this has been designed so that it can be plugged into the back of your TV. This streaming stick also needs the process of Roku link code activation to be completed.
This new streaming stick lacks the Ethernet port for the wired network connection reliability. But it features a new wireless receiver that has been built separately into the power cord that as the claim of Roku offers up to four times the range of last year’s streaming stick. The all-new Streaming Stick + will retail at $69.99 which is $20 more than the 1080p Roku streaming stick.
The regular streaming stick has received just the minor upgradation over the previous version of streaming stick, along with a remote which can now have the ability to control TV power and volume directly. This remote has also been included with Roku streaming Stick+.
On the other end of the media streaming devices, the Roku Express & Express+ have got new CPUs that are five times more powerful as compared to the previous version of the Express devices, as claimed by Roku. As the previous generation models, The Roku Express is HDMI only whereas Express+ includes a composite video output for the older TVs. The new two streamers will retail at $29.99 and $39.99 respectively and the Express+ will exclusively be available at Walmart.
The Roku Ultra has not got many changes with the exception of a new remote that will directly control the TV power and volume. It is more advanced remote as compared to the remote that comes with the streaming sticks. This remote also comes with the remote finder button that makes the remote beep when you are unable to find it and a headphone jack for the private listening, which actually features that is only found on Roku ultra. The new Roku Ultra will be available at the price of $99.99 which is equivalent to the price of Roku Premiere+.
All the new Roku devices will feature the all-new Roku OS 8 interface which will add the new aggregation and new content search features including the search for the live tv programming.
